Today on our 2019 Newmar Bay Star Motorhome, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs for the front axle. Having a motorhome can be a really nice thing. We can travel around the country, see a lot of places you haven't seen, or go camping or whatever we want to. But one thing that people don't talk a lot about when they talk about motorhomes is how uncomfortable the drive can be 'cause let's face it, we have a lot of area for wind to catch and to start pushing us around. So whether we're going down the highway and we have a crosswind that pushes us, or if we're at the campsite and we just start hitting some uneven pavement, it can get a little unnerving. So before we put any of our suspension components on, let's take our motorhome for a test drive and see how it handles. more

Hi there, Newmar owners. Today on your 2017 Newmar Canyon Star, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install SumoSprings rear suspension enhancement system.Before we install our SumoSprings, we're going to go ahead and hit the test course, just to get a baseline on how our motor home feels. We're going to start in our uneven bump section, which is going to simulate a pothole. And as we hit these here, it doesn't seem to be too noticeable. We are getting a little bit of rocking back and forth. Definitely does got just a little bit of rock. more

Now here at etrailer, we get a lot of questions about suspension, especially on motorhomes. Because let's face it, they're really top heavy, they're tall, and there's a lot of area for wind to catch, so they don't typically drive the best. And we end up getting tossed around, pushed around on the highway, we're fighting the steering wheel, fighting ruts, and overall just not an enjoyable experience most of the time.Now helper springs are going to do a lot of different things to help those and alleviate those problems. It's going to help a lot with the sway and the body roll feeling, because it is going to stiffen up the suspension, and it's also going to help absorb a lot of the bumps and the jarring feeling we get resonating through the seats. But before we go over some of the features and really see those, we need to get a baseline of how our motorhome drives. more

What these are going to do, these are going to help you reduce body roll and sway while giving you a more comfortable ride while you're traveling. With these big RVs, because they're so top heavy, what happens is when you get a cross wind, the top kind of leans like this. Well, what it does is it kind of pushes you over that way. Everything wants to kind of pull that way and you have to muscle the steering wheel. more

We take trips with our family, see places that we've never been before. But one thing a lot of people don't talk about it how our motorhome is going to handle. We get a lot of questions here at etrailer.com about motorhomes and typically it's about the suspension, because motorhomes are going to be a lot more top heavy, which means when we're going through the road, we'll get a lot of sway and kind of rolling feeling. Or if we're driving down the road and we have a big gust of wind, it'll push us to the side and then we end up fighting that steering wheel. more

Now here at etrailer.com, we get a lot of questions about motor homes, specifically about the suspension upgrades, because let's face it, a motor home is a very tall, top heavy vehicle that can be extremely difficult and a little unnerving to drive. Because whether you're new or even doing it for a while, you realize real quickly that since it is so top heavy, and we have a large area, it catches a lot of wind. So we end up getting pushed around whether we're driving down the highway from a truck, a big gust of wind, or even a rut in the road. There's got to be a simpler way to feel more in control and actually enjoy your motor home. So before we put any of our parts on, let's take it out on the test course and see how it handles.As I'm going over the bumps here, I can definitely feel a jarring going through the seat and it really doesn't want to react as quick. more

There's a lot of area for the wind to catch, which means that we're going to get pushed around, whether we're driving down the highway and a big truck comes by or a gust of wind.. There's a lot of area for it to catch, and then we ended up fighting the steering wheel.By the time we get to where we're going, we're going to be exhausted because we're fighting the steering wheel, trying to keep it in the line. more

Part number SSR-183-54-1.A common problem we hear a lot about motorhomes is that when you first get them, the suspension can seem very soft and when you're going around turns, they'll have a lot of body roll and it doesn't seem like you have a whole lot of control. Not to mention, the side of them are going to catch a lot of wind on the highway. It's just a giant box on wheels, so the wind is just going to catch right on the side.That's where our Helper Springs are going to come into play. They're going to help reduce that body roll, give us a little bit more stability when we're driving down the road, so everyone can feel a lot more safe and more comfortable.So, now that we have them installed, let's go ahead and take them for a ride and see how they handle.With our Helper Springs installed, I can tell you I definitely feel a difference going around corners. It doesn't want to roll as much and it just feels like there's a lot more control; and as I'm going over the bumps here, it's not as such of a jarring feeling. more

Speaker 1: Today in our 2011 Newmar Canyon Star, we're gonna be installing super springs SumoSpring Rebel Custom Helper Springs for the front axle, part number SSF-173-40-2.These SumoSprings are gonna increase ride quality by making it softer when going over bumps. They're also gonna help reduce sway on uneven pavement by leveling out that load, and also keeping it more level under a heavier load. It'll help distribute that weight evenly between one side and the other. As the spring compresses it'll dynamically push back, helping push that weight onto the other side.What this means to you is it's gonna help reduce driver fatigue because when you're going down the road hitting those bumps, it's not gonna cause that steering to go veering in one direction as hard as it used to. It's gonna help make it easier for you to keep it going in a straight line. This way, when you get where you're trying to go, you're ready to explore rather than go to bed.This dampening effect can also help increase the life of the components on your vehicle. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2011 Newmar Canyon Star, we're going to be installing SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs for the rear axle. Part number SSR-187-54-1. The Sumo Springs are going to increase ride and comfort, decrease sway and just make it an overall easier effort driving your rig RV.As you load up your RV with various gear and people, the springs will help keep it level and distribute the weight evenly across the RV. This is nice when you're going down the road 'cause any crosswinds that would cause your vehicle to sway get absorbed into these making it much less than it used to be.The dampening effect will help reduce driver fatigue in case you hit any potholes or uneven road surfaces, it will compress, absorb that load make steering effort less than what it was, to keep the vehicle straight. So, that way when you arrive at your destination after a long drive, you won't be wore out and ready for bed. You'll be ready to enjoy your adventure.It's fairly easy to install. more
